How to Roast a Chicken
What you’ll need
Ingredients:
Salt
Pepper
Olive oil
Fresh Herbs
Lemon
Tools:
A sharp knife
Roasting rack
Aluminum foil
Baking Pan (big enough for your bird and at least 1 inch in height)
Poultry Thermometer
Step 1
Preheat your oven to 325F
Step 2
Remove giblets, extra fat or skin and the tail if you choose
Step 3
Place the roasting rack inside of your baking pan, and place bird breast side up on top
Step 4
Dash salt and pepper overtop the bird, rub olive oil all over, then stuff your bird with the herbs and lemon
Step 5
Time to get this bird cooking- Place your baking pan in the oven on the lower to middle rack. Cook for 45-60 minutes (depending on size), checking with your thermometer between the body and thigh joint for a reading of 165 degrees.
Step 6
Take chicken out of the oven and cover with aluminum foil and let rest 10 minutes
Step 7
Carve and Serve
Tip:
If bird appears to be browning too quickly on top cover loosely with aluminum foil
If cooking in a small area, make sure you have good ventilation as the fire alarm tend to go off during the roasting process
